No Sleep 'Till......

I'm not sure about other people's children, but I'm convinced that Bean has some sort of Momma-Nap-Radar.

When she was a itty bitty Bean she never napped for more than 25-45 mins. Ever. So there was no 'sleep when she sleeps' for me. The minute I'd fall asleep she'd wake up. At around a year old she dropped down to one nap per day and then finally she started taking longer naps. They're still not super long compared to my friend's kids naptimes, but they're usually 1-2 hours.

They're never consistent, though, so I rarely TRY to nap when she does. However, there are some times when I think my odds are better and I give it a shot. For instance, sometimes she'll take a 2 hour nap every.single.day for 2 weeks. So, if I'm tired enough I'll finally accept that she's taking 2 hour naps now, so I'll do a few things I HAVE to do when she goes down and then I'll decide to lay down as well. I swear to you it goes like this: I lay down. Close my eyes. Toss. Turn. Toss. Turn. Finally get comfortable. Regulate my breathing. Slooowwwlllllyy start to doze off. Feel my self slipping into that sleep-land. BAM! She's awake. Every. Single. Time.

For some reason she naps better at my mom's house in her pack and play. It's ALWAYS 2 hours, sometimes more! We were over at my mom's house yesterday and when Maddy went down I decided to read some of my new book... after about 30 mins I started to get drowsy and decided to take advantage of her GUARANTEED long nap, thinking I'd get at least an hour to sleep - even if it took me 30 mins to fall asleep. I put my book down, got the throw blanket on top of me, got all cozy on the couch, regulated my breathing.... BAM! She woke up! She only slept for 1 hour. At my mom's. Where she ALWAYS sleeps for AT LEAST 2 hours.

Why? Because her radar went off.

         Mooooommmmaaaa....
I wanted to sleep more, but I noticed YOU were trying to sleep so I haaad to wake up.
Wahhhhhhh!

Lol! That is how Zohie is if I don't side nurse her and fall asleep with her! I tried adjusting our schedule so that she sleeps in her bed and I get things done while she naps (in the hopes that I wouldn't have to stay up so late at night...and there for *need* a nap during the day), but it just never worked out. So we nap together and that is what works best for us. I have no idea how things are going to go once Baby #2 gets here! Haha!
